DepEd Announces Administration of National Achievement Tests and Early Language Assessment for School Year 2023-2024
In a recent memorandum, the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines announced the administration of the Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Assessment (ELLNA), National Achievement Test for Grade 6 (NATG6), and National Achievement Test for Grade 12 (NATG12) for the School Year 2023-2024. The tests are set to occur within specific testing windows: NATG12 from March 18-22, 2024, NATG6 from April 1-5, 2024, and ELLNA from April 15-19, 2024.
The ELLNA is designed to assess whether Grade 3 students in public schools are meeting learning standards in early language, literacy, and numeracy. The NATG6 will be administered to Grade 6 students in both public and private schools, while the NATG12 will be given to all currently enrolled Grade 12 students in both public and private schools.
These tests aim to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of education service delivery, with the results serving as evidence for curriculum improvement. The assessments will cover 21st Century Skills such as Problem-Solving, Information Literacy, and Critical Thinking, using learning areas in English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, and Araling Panlipunan for NATG6, and additional areas for NATG12.
The Bureau of Education Assessment (BEA) will oversee the national implementation of these tests, with assistance from regional and school division offices. They will also conduct a virtual orientation for coordinators and supervisors involved in the administration of the tests.
The tests will be administered using a paper-based modality and will adhere to health and safety protocols. For more information, the Bureau of Education Assessment can be contacted through their email or telephone number. The immediate dissemination of this memorandum is urged by the Department of Education.
