Joint FDA and PNP-CIDG Operations Crack Down on Illegal Health Products in North Luzon

April 10, 2024 - In a decisive move to protect public health, the Food and Drug Administration’s North Luzon Cluster, led by Director Gomel C. Gabuna, has joined forces with the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation Detection Group (PNP-CIDG). Together, they have launched a series of successful operations targeting the illegal distribution of non-compliant cosmetics, food, and household urban pesticide products.

Throughout March 2024, the joint task force executed raids across Regions 2 and 3, resulting in the confiscation of products that violated FDA regulations. The crackdown spanned several cities and municipalities, including Santiago City, Ilagan City, Centro East, Enrile, Solano, San Fernando City, Bacolor, Subic, and Tarlac City.

The seized items included unregistered food products, such as unlabeled cooking oil and luncheon meat labeled in foreign languages, as well as unauthorized cosmetics and mosquito coils. The operations also led to the arrest of individuals involved in the illegal sale of these hazardous products.

Director Gabuna highlighted the critical need for vigilance against the spread of such violative products, which pose significant risks to life and health. He called upon all establishments to adhere strictly to FDA rules and regulations to prevent these dangerous goods from reaching consumers.

The FDA and PNP-CIDG have reaffirmed their dedication to continued collaboration in enforcing regulatory standards and maintaining the highest levels of public health safety.
