Migrant Workers Celebrate 126th Independence Day

June 12, 2024 - In celebration of the 126th Anniversary of Independence Day, Hans Leo J. Cacdac, from the Department of Migrant Workers, extended his warmest greetings to all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), whom he referred to as the “New Heroes” of the nation.

Cacdac praised the OFWs for their hard work and resilience in building bright futures for their families, communities, and the country. He acknowledged their bravery in embracing new cultures, overcoming challenges, and contributing significantly to the economies of their host countries.

He emphasized that the heroic acts and sacrifices of our ancestors serve as a constant reminder of the patriotism that resides within every Filipino. As modern-day heroes, OFWs showcase Philippine excellence on the global stage.

The Department of Migrant Workers recognizes the immense sacrifices made by OFWs and commits to providing them with the protection, support, and services they deserve. They strive to ensure the well-being of OFWs, protect their rights, and empower them to reach their full potential as equal partners in national economic development.

As the nation celebrates its independence, Cacdac reflected on the future that we want to build together. He envisions a future where every Filipino worker abroad feels safe, empowered, valued, and determined to contribute further to nation-building and pave the way for a more prosperous Philippines.

Cacdac’s message is a challenge to all, that in shaping our New Philippines, no one is left behind. Everyone is together on the path of progress and prosperity. He recognized the contribution of each citizen, small or large, towards a New Philippines.

No matter where they are in the world, the heartbeat and pulse of our hearts are the same - the love for our Motherland, the Philippines. The common goal is to improve the lives and conditions of our families, which in turn will drive the progress of our communities and society.

Even if they are far away across the sea, they are part of the Philippine Nation. Their sacrifices, efforts, and perseverance serve as an inspiration to our society towards a prosperous, peaceful, and free New Philippines.

The Department of Migrant Workers salutes you - the New Heroes - for your courage! From the Home of OFWs, a joyful and meaningful celebration of Independence Day. Thank you and Long live to all of you!
