DOH Announces National Infection Prevention and Control Week: Together, WE Stand Against HAI: Protecting Everyone

July 03, 2024 - The Department of Health (DOH) is calling all Filipinos to participate in the upcoming National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week, happening from July 8th to 14th, 2024. This year's theme, "Together, WE Stand Against HAI: Protecting Everyone!", underscores the collective responsibility in preventing Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) and ensuring a safer healthcare environment.

The week-long campaign serves as a timely reminder that the fight against infectious diseases goes beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. HAIs are a significant concern in healthcare facilities worldwide, affecting millions of patients each year. These infections can prolong hospital stays, increase healthcare costs, and even lead to death.

"National IPC Week is a crucial platform to raise awareness about the importance of infection prevention practices," says DOH Secretary [Name of Secretary]. "By working together – healthcare workers, patients, and the community – we can significantly reduce the risk of HAIs and create a healthier environment for everyone."

The DOH encourages healthcare facilities to organize educational campaigns and activities throughout the week to promote proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental cleaning protocols. The public can also play a vital role by practicing good hand hygiene, being informed about their healthcare procedures, and asking questions about infection prevention measures at their healthcare providers' facilities.

By prioritizing IPC practices, we can build a more resilient healthcare system and protect ourselves and our loved ones from preventable infections. Let's join the DOH in making a stand against HAIs for a healthier future.
