July 03, 2024 - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to launch a new system, the i-Registro, to improve the delivery of social protection programs in the Philippines.
This dynamic social registry (DSR) will allow for self-service registration and data authentication, making it easier for potential beneficiaries to access services.
"The i-Registro aims to enhance the exchange of up-to-date data on families, which is crucial for targeting and supporting those who need help the most," said DSWD National Household Targeting Office (NHTO) Director Jimmy Francis Schuck II.
This initiative is part of the DSWD's digital transformation efforts to streamline the delivery of social protection programs.
Pilot Launch to Focus on Pregnant Mothers
The i-Registro will be piloted in three areas: Pateros in Metro Manila, Cordova in Cebu, and Floridablanca in Pampanga. During this initial phase, the system will focus on pregnant and lactating mothers (PLMs) who can self-register and have their information authenticated.
To ensure a smooth rollout, the NHTO conducted a series of orientation activities for stakeholders, including local government officials (LGUs) and their barangay counterparts (BLGUs).
Collaboration Key to Success
"The LGU orientation activities are part of our ongoing efforts to prepare everyone involved for the pilot testing," said Director Schuck. "These activities aim to present the plans and strategies, and gather feedback and support from LGUs and BLGUs."
The i-Registro aligns with the national government's efforts to simplify access and improve the efficiency of social welfare programs.
"By leveraging technology and real-time data exchange, the DSWD aims to elevate the well-being of disadvantaged Filipinos and ensure equitable access to essential services," Director Schuck concluded.
