The seafarers were among the 15 Filipinos onboard the vessel when it was attacked by Houthi rebels on March 6th while sailing through the Gulf of Aden. The remaining 13 crew members have already returned to the Philippines and are receiving government assistance.
Dubai Labor Attaché John Rio Bautista escorted the remains of the two fallen seafarers back to the country. Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) offered their condolences to the families and pledged their continued support.
The DMW, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and OWWA, along with the ship owners and local manning agencies, collaborated on the retrieval and repatriation of the remains.
Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive, the DMW and OWWA will extend continuous assistance to the families of the deceased seafarers, guiding them through this challenging time.
