July 03, 2024 - In a major operation, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), led by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, dismantled a reported scam and torture hub disguised as a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) facility in Porac, Pampanga.
Following a crucial meeting on May 29, 2024, with key agencies, PAOCC, along with the Department of Justice and PNP-CIDG, meticulously planned the raid. Witness interviews and a search warrant application for Lucky South 99 Corp. followed.
Early signs of a compromised operation emerged as video footage circulated online, suggesting a potential leak. Despite the setback, a search warrant was issued on June 4th, leading to the apprehension of 157 foreign nationals and 29 Filipinos. However, a lack of detail in the warrant hampered the initial operation.
A dramatic turn of events unfolded on June 6th when a wounded Chinese national escaped the facility, exposing potential human rights abuses. This triggered a rescue mission, saving another victim and solidifying the need for further action.
Learning from the initial challenges, PAOCC and PNP secured a more comprehensive search warrant, leading to the discovery of torture equipment, fraudulent documents, and illegal items within the compound.
Bureau of Immigration investigations revealed a network of criminal activities tied to the POGO and scam farm. While some individuals were released, the operation exposed the dark side of organized crime.
This successful raid highlights the importance of collaboration between various agencies and stringent enforcement measures in combating illegal activities. PAOCC's commitment to dismantling rogue POGOs and scam farms sends a strong message – justice will be pursued, and criminals will be brought to account.
