July 10, 2024 - In a recent statement, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. defended the controversial P10 million reward offered for information leading to the arrest of fugitive religious leader Apollo Quiboloy. The reward was initiated by private individuals to aid the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in capturing Quiboloy, who faces arrest warrants for sexual abuse and human trafficking.

When asked about the reward, President Marcos responded, “Bakit hindi? They want to help us bring a fugitive to justice. You know, he is a fugitive. He is hiding from the law.” He emphasized that there was nothing wrong with private citizens contributing to justice efforts and challenged Quiboloy to reveal himself and face the charges.
Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, remains on the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list due to allegations of labor trafficking. Local courts have also ordered his arrest. The President’s stance highlights the ongoing debate over the role of private citizens in assisting law enforcement agencies in high-profile cases .
