In a significant step towards improving the Philippine educational system, the Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with Khan Academy Philippines (KA PH). This collaboration aims to boost foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, focusing on reading, science, and math, and leveraging technology to enrich digital and remote learning for students across the country. This initiative targets select schools for the 2024-2025 school year, benefiting students and teachers through a series of activities and trainings.
Key Highlights of the Program
1. Online Orientation for Batches 2 and 3 Schools: Schools from various regions will undergo an online orientation to introduce them to the Khan Academy platform. The orientation is designed for principals, math department heads, ICT coordinators, and selected math teachers. Batch 2 schools will have their orientation on October 16, 2024, while Batch 3 schools are scheduled for October 30, 2024. For both batches, the focus is on helping schools get started with Khan Academy and set the stage for successful implementation.

2. School Verification: Before the full implementation, a verification process will be conducted in participating schools across different regions. The aim is to ensure schools meet the necessary technological requirements (such as strong internet connectivity and the availability of devices for students). This is scheduled for regions such as RO 5 (Masbate), RO 7, and RO 8 for Batch 2, and Regions 3, 9, and 10 for Batch 3.
3. Face-to-Face Trainings: To provide deeper insights and training, teachers from the verified schools will participate in face-to-face sessions. These sessions will focus on navigating Khan Academy, rostering students, and maximizing the use of the platform. Scheduled for various regions in November and December, the training ensures teachers are fully equipped to integrate Khan Academy into their curriculum without interrupting classes.

Batch 2 parents will have their orientation on January 18, 2024, with Batch 3 parents scheduled for January 18, 2025.
