Calling All Young Innovators: Join the IAFSW-MiSAC 2024 Competition on NTDs and Climate Change!
Attention all Grade 7-9 students in the ASEAN Plus Three countries! The International Association for Science and Awareness (IAFSW), together with the Microbiology and Science Advocacy Committee (MiSAC), invites you to participate in the Joint IAFSW-MiSAC Competition 2024. This is your chance to delve into the world of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and discover how climate change is altering their impact on global health.
What’s the Challenge?
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to design an engaging, illustrated web-page report that raises awareness among teenagers about a selected NTD. You’ll need to:
- Explore NTDs through video clips and research.
- Describe the chosen disease, its symptoms, global distribution, prevention, treatment, and community impact.
- Explain the pathogen behind the disease and its transmission.
- Analyze how climate change could shift the disease’s spread and severity.

Submission Guidelines
- Create your entry by hand or computer on an A3 sheet or two A4 sheets taped together.
- Scan and save your work in PDF format.
- Submit your PDF at IAFSW-MiSAC’s official submission portal by May 1, 2024.
- Send hard copies to the IAFSW office in Bangkok by May 15, 2024.
Rules to Remember
- Up to 10 entries per school are allowed.
- Entries can be individual or in groups of up to four students.
- Originality and effectiveness in communication will be key judging criteria.
- Avoid plagiarism; your work should be your own.
