Government Issues Warning Against Fund Release Fixers
In a bold move to safeguard the integrity of its financial management, the government has issued a stern warning against individuals or groups claiming to have the ability to expedite the release of funds from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Circular Letter 2024-8, dated March 7, 2024, reiterates the government’s commitment to transparency and due process, emphasizing that all requests for fund releases are processed in accordance with established laws, procedures, and regulations.
The DBM has made it clear that no external person or group is authorized to facilitate fund releases, and any such claims should be regarded with suspicion. Government officials and personnel are expressly prohibited from soliciting requests for fund release or accepting any form of payment to influence the process.
To further protect against fraudulent activities, the DBM will only engage directly with the heads of agencies or their duly authorized representatives. Additionally, the DBM has implemented measures to maintain confidentiality, such as withholding fund release details during phone inquiries and requiring authorization letters for email inquiries.
The public is encouraged to access official communications and information directly from the DBM website. Any attempts or incidents of fund release fixing should be reported directly to the DBM for prompt action.
This proactive approach by the government aims to instill a culture of integrity and accountability across all levels of public service, ensuring that the process of fund allocation remains untainted by corruption or undue influence.
