National Girl Child Week Celebrated in the Philippines
In accordance with Proclamation Number 759, series of 1996, the Philippines is celebrating National Girl Child Week. This year, the theme is “Abante, Batang Babae: Labanan ang Karahasan!”, under the leadership of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC).
The CWC, a government agency dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of children, is spearheading various activities across the country to raise awareness about the issues faced by young girls, particularly violence.
The theme “Abante, Batang Babae: Labanan ang Karahasan!” is a call to action for everyone to join hands in the fight against the violence that young girls face. It aims to empower young girls to stand up against violence, promote their rights, and advance their status in society.
The National Girl Child Week is an annual event that highlights the importance of nurturing and protecting the rights of young girls in the Philippines. It serves as a platform for discussing and addressing the challenges faced by young girls, and for promoting gender equality and the empowerment of young girls.
The CWC, along with various government agencies, non-government organizations, and civil society, is working together to ensure that this year’s National Girl Child Week will be a significant step towards achieving these goals.
The celebration of National Girl Child Week is a testament to the Philippines’ commitment to uphold the rights of the girl child and to ensure that every young girl has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. It is a reminder that everyone has a role to play in creating a society where young girls are valued, protected, and empowered. The Tagalog theme “Abante, Batang Babae: Labanan ang Karahasan!” remains at the heart of this year’s celebration.
