Philippine Coast Guard Monitors Surge in Port Activity, Ensures Safety During Holy Week 2024
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has reported a significant surge in port activity on 25 March 2024. Between the hours of 6AM and 12NN, the PCG monitored a total of 48,256 outbound passengers and 38,396 inbound passengers across all ports nationwide.
In an effort to ensure safety and order, the PCG has deployed 3,244 frontline personnel across 15 districts. These personnel have conducted inspections on 659 vessels and 904 motorbancas.
In anticipation of the Holy Week, the PCG has placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from 24 to 31 March 2024. This measure is aimed at managing the expected influx of port passengers during this period.
The PCG has also made provisions for the seafaring public to coordinate with them through their official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (0927-560-7729). This is to address any inquiries, concerns, and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during the Holy Week. The PCG continues to uphold its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all sea travelers during this busy period.
