DepEd Achieves PBB Eligibility Amidst Areas for Improvement

April 28, 2024 - In a recent development within the Department of Education (DepEd), the agency has successfully achieved eligibility for the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for Fiscal Year 2022. This milestone, announced on April 2, 2024, underscores DepEd's commitment to excellence in public service.

According to the Office of the Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development, DepEd received commendations from the AO 25 Inter-Agency Taskforce Technical Working Group (AO25 IATF TWG). The department attained a total score of 75 points, surpassing the eligibility threshold set forth in Memorandum Circular No. 2022-1.

The PBB validation process scrutinized DepEd's performance across four dimensions: Performance Results, Process Results, Financial Results, and Citizen/Client Satisfaction Results. Notably, DepEd demonstrated significant achievements in meeting Congress-approved performance targets, streamlining processes, ensuring prudent financial management, and enhancing citizen satisfaction.

However, amidst the celebration, DepEd also faced areas of non-compliance. The department fell short in three out of eleven agency accountabilities, including the undertaking of Early Procurement Activities (EPA), submission of FY 2022 Non-Common Use Supplies and Equipment (APP non-CSE), and PhilGEPS posting.

In response to these findings, DepEd's National Performance Management Team (NPMT) swiftly took action. Units and positions responsible for non-compliance were identified and isolated in accordance with the guidelines outlined in Memorandum Circular No. 2022-1.

Looking forward, DepEd remains committed to transparency and accountability in its operations. The department issued directives calling for the expedited submission of Form 1.0 and warned against fraudulent activities related to PBB. Employees were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious claims regarding PBB payouts.

DepEd's achievement of PBB eligibility serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of its employees. While celebrating this milestone, the department remains focused on addressing areas of improvement to ensure the efficient delivery of services to the Filipino people.

In conclusion, DepEd's journey towards PBB eligibility highlights both successes and challenges. With lessons learned and proactive measures in place, DepEd stands poised to continue its pursuit of excellence in the education sector.
