Heat Index Soars Across the Country: A 5-Day Computed and 2-Day Forecast

As of 5:00 PM on April 18, 2024, the heat index across various regions in the country has been computed for the past five days and forecasted for the next two days. The heat index, also known as the “real feel” temperature, is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.

The National Capital Region has seen a steady heat index in the range of 37-41°C over the past five days. The forecast for the next two days predicts a consistent heat index of 40°C.

In Region I ('locos Region), the heat index has varied between 39-42°C in the past five days, with a forecast of 39-40°C for the next two days.

Region II (Cagayan Valley) experienced a heat index ranging from 35-43°C over the past five days. The forecast predicts a slight decrease to 38-39°C over the next two days.

The Cordillera Administrative Region has seen a significant fluctuation in the heat index, ranging from 26-47°C over the past five days. The forecast for the next two days predicts a consistent heat index of 28°C.

The heat index in Region III (Central Luzon) has ranged from 34-44°C over the past five days. The forecast predicts a slight decrease to 40°C over the next two days.

It’s important to note that values beyond the 53°C heat index are estimates, which might already be unrealistic. Such values should therefore not be interpreted in terms of their absolute magnitudes, but rather on the health risks they pose on us.

Stay safe and hydrated, and remember to take necessary precautions to protect yourself from the heat. Keep an eye on the weather updates for more information.
