LTO Enforces 5-Day Rule for Efficient OR/CR and License Plate Distribution
In a decisive move to streamline vehicle registration processes, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has implemented a 5-day rule for the swift distribution of Official Receipts/Certificates of Registration (OR/CR), license plates, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. This mandate requires all Accredited Manufacturers, Importers, Assemblers, Dealers, and Other Entities (MAIRDOEs) to ensure that these essential documents and items are released to vehicle owners within a specified five-day period following the approval of new registrations.
The initiative, spearheaded by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, is a response to longstanding complaints about delays in the distribution of vehicle documentation. The new guidelines are designed to improve efficiency and accountability among motor vehicle dealers, with strict penalties in place for non-compliance. The LTO’s commitment to enhancing service delivery is further demonstrated by the requirement for MAIRDOEs to submit bi-monthly reports for ongoing monitoring.
The Department of Transportation has been apprised of the LTO’s actions, ensuring that the concerns of car owners are being addressed with tangible policy changes.
