Philippines’ Bureau of Immigration Excludes Over 150 Vietnamese Nationals in March

April 8, 2024 - According to a Facebook post by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Philippines’ immigration authorities have reported the exclusion of over 150 Vietnamese nationals in March. The BI’s immigration protection and border enforcement section (I-PROBES) cited the involvement of these individuals in illegal online gaming operations as the reason for the increased entry denials.

The report to BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco also noted the exclusion of 30 Chinese and 14 Indonesians during the same period. In total, 220 foreign nationals were denied entry in March for being likely to become a public charge, a violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.

Commissioner Tansingco clarified that the BI’s measures are not discriminatory towards any nationality but are based on a thorough analysis of travel patterns and past behaviors indicative of similar violations.

The excluded individuals have been added to the BI’s blacklist, preventing them from entering the Philippines in the future. The BI continues to enforce its policies to maintain the integrity of national borders and immigration laws.
