President Marcos Jr. Intensifies Infrastructure Development with Extended Construction Hours

April 21, 2024 - President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has announced extended construction hours and round-the-clock emergency repairs on government infrastructure projects. This move is part of the administration’s “Build, Better, More” program, aimed at ensuring the swift and timely completion of vital infrastructure projects.

In a video message posted on Facebook Saturday night, President Marcos emphasized the need for intensified efforts in ongoing infrastructure projects. “Under the Build, Better, More program, we will extend construction hours and conduct emergency repairs round-the-clock to ensure timely completion,” he said.

The President further added that projects meeting quality requirements will be prioritized. This initiative is part of the government’s response to climate change and its commitment to ensuring that infrastructures are durable and can withstand calamities.

“So the public won’t be bothered by substandard infrastructure projects that need to be fixed repeatedly in just a few years or after a typhoon,” he said, addressing the issue of substandard infrastructure in the country.

The “Build, Better, More” infrastructure program is an expansion of the country’s “Golden Age of Infrastructure”. It focuses on constructing and repairing high-impact projects such as farm-to-market roads, mass transport systems, airports, expressways, bridges, and ports among others.

This move by the administration is expected to boost the country’s infrastructure development and provide the public with more reliable and resilient facilities.
