Vlogger ‘Boy Tapang’ Apologizes for Controversial Money Kite Video

Cebuano vlogger Ronnie Suan, more popularly known as Boy Tapang on Facebook, has issued an apology following the backlash over his controversial video where he used P1,000 bills to make a kite.

The video, which garnered seven million views in just one week, showed Suan flying a kite made of P1,000 bills amounting to P1 million. The stunt, however, did not sit well with netizens and caught the attention of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

BSP officials visited Suan’s house to reprimand him for his actions. They reminded him that money bills should not be toyed with. In response, Suan took down the video and issued an apology.

“I want to say sorry to BSP for making a kite made of money. It was not my intention to toy with money because I came from being poor. I value money,” Suan said in Cebuano during one of his vlogs.

Suan explained that he made the kite for entertainment and to create a unique record that a kite made from 1,000 pieces of P1,000 can only be found in their municipality. He also clarified that he consulted a lawyer before creating the kite, who advised him that it would not be illegal as long as the money bills were not damaged.

Despite the controversy, Suan stated that the BSP official had accepted his explanation and would not be pursuing legal action against him. He also urged people to value money and not to toy with it.

This incident serves as a reminder to the public about the proper use and respect for the country’s currency.
