May 27, 2024 - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has issued an advisory that Manual Load Dropping (MLD) may be implemented in several areas today, May 27, to maintain the integrity of the power system.
The MLD is scheduled to occur between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. The affected areas include parts of Ilocos Sur (ISECO), Ilocos Norte (INEC), Bataan (PENELCO), Zambales (ZAMECO 1), Isabela (ISELCO 2), Camarines Sur (CASURECO II), Batangas (BATELEC I), Quezon (QUEZELCO I), and parts of the MERALCO franchise area.
The NGCP has stated that the schedule may be cancelled if the system condition improves, such as if the actual demand falls below projections. In light of this, the NGCP is encouraging everyone to exercise prudence in using electricity.
The MLD is a measure taken to prevent a possible nationwide blackout. It involves cutting off the power supply in certain areas for a limited period to balance the demand and supply of electricity in the grid.
