2,000 Families Deemed Self-Sufficient, Exit DSWD's Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program

June 25, 2024 - Some 2,000 beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) celebrated their graduation from the program during a "Pugay Tagumpay" ceremony held on Monday, June 24th.

The ceremony, held at the Aman Royale in Bagong Barrio, Pandi, Bulacan, recognized families who have achieved self-sufficiency and are no longer in need of the program's assistance.

Graduates Praised for Determination

DSWD 4Ps National Program Manager Director Gemma Gabuya commended the graduating families for their hard work and perseverance. She stated that their "lofty dreams, passion, positive change, and determination" are the true embodiment of the 4Ps program – providing a foundation for a brighter future.

Households who graduate from the program are categorized as Level 3, indicating self-sufficiency. They are then referred to their respective local government units (LGUs) for continued support and monitoring.

Investing in People, Uplifting Lives

Senator Imee Marcos, the ceremony's guest of honor, highlighted the importance of government programs like 4Ps. She emphasized that even a "small amount" of assistance can empower families to create their own pathways to progress.

A Program with Lasting Impact

The 4Ps program, launched in 2008 and institutionalized in 2019, offers conditional cash transfers to qualified families for up to seven years. The program aims to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children in disadvantaged households, ultimately contributing to poverty reduction and human capital development.

The Pugay Tagumpay ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Bulacan Vice-Governor Alex Castro, Congressman Ambrocio Cruz, Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque, and DSWD Field Office 3 Assistant Regional Director Armont Pecina.
