4Ps Program Strengthens Filipino Families, Expands to Include More!

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has good news for Filipino families! The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is making a big difference, and it's about to get even better.

4Ps: Making a Difference in Education and Behavior

Studies show 4Ps is having a positive impact on beneficiary families. Children are attending school more regularly, and the program's Family Development Sessions (FDS) are helping both parents and children. These sessions teach parents about their roles and responsibilities, which leads to better behavior at home and at school.

New Focus on the First 1,000 Days

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently approved a significant expansion of 4Ps. The program will now include pregnant and lactating women, with a focus on ensuring the health of children during their critical first 1,000 days (from birth to age two). This is an important gap, as the current program doesn't monitor the health of mothers and babies during this crucial time. The expansion will address this by tracking their health and encouraging mothers to prioritize healthy habits.

Government Committed to Success

President Marcos is serious about the program's success. He's directed the DSWD to work with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to determine the budget and requirements for the expansion. There are already over 28,000 pregnant women and 108,000 children under two who will benefit from this expansion, as they are part of existing beneficiary households.

Looking Ahead: A Brighter Future for Families

The 4Ps program is a positive force in the Philippines. The expansion to include pregnant and lactating mothers shows the government's commitment to improving the well-being of Filipino families from the very beginning. With a focus on education, better behavior, and early childhood health, 4Ps is helping families build a brighter future.
