June 12, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd) in Dumaguete City has launched a new platform called "Tapat Dapat 1.0" to promote transparency and give stakeholders easier access to information on the division's activities and operations.
"Tapat Dapat" translates loosely to "Honesty a Must," reflecting the platform's aim to increase openness and public trust. Dr. Edmark Ian Cabio, Assistant City Schools Superintendent and the main proponent behind Tapat Dapat 1.0, said the system was developed by DepEd Dumaguete's very own Information Technology (IT) department.
"This platform will be accessible to the public," said Cabio. "We encourage all DepEd divisions to adopt a similar system to provide stakeholders with a venue to stay updated on government-funded projects, programs, and activities in their respective schools, particularly those concerning MOOE (maintenance and other operating expenses)."
The platform will initially cover 25 elementary and secondary schools in Dumaguete City. School bookkeepers and administrative officers will be tasked with encoding information related to MOOE spending on the platform's e-transparency board.
Cabio added that training sessions are being scheduled for these personnel to ensure a smooth launch. The platform is expected to be up and running by next week.
