Filipinos working and residing abroad can now enjoy greater financial convenience and independence with the launch of the GoBayani digital savings account by the Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank).
GoBayani, which debuted on June 3, 2024, is a specifically designed digital deposit account that caters to overseas Filipinos. It goes beyond just sending money back home through fund transfers. GoBayani account holders can also:
- Perform e-commerce transactions: This allows them to seamlessly shop online and pay for goods and services with ease.
- Receive remittances via Visa Direct: This facilitates receiving money transfers directly from partners of Visa abroad, ensuring a secure and reliable remittance process.
But that's not all. LandBank is set to expand GoBayani's functionalities to include:
- Digital bill payments: This will allow Filipinos abroad to settle bills and dues back home in the Philippines, saving them time and effort.
- Payments to government agencies: Soon, GoBayani users will be able to make monthly contributions to PhilHealth, Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG Fund through the platform.
Opening a GoBayani account is made simple and accessible. Filipinos abroad can open an account directly through their smartphones using the LandBank Mobile Banking App's new straight-through account opening feature. There's no need for an initial deposit or maintaining balance, making it an attractive option for those starting their financial journey abroad.
"We are continuously enhancing our digital offerings to deliver a seamless banking experience to our customers and expand financial access to all," said LandBank President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz in a statement. "Investing in our digital infrastructure forms part of our response to the increasing demand for convenient digital solutions."
The launch of GoBayani signifies LandBank's commitment to empowering overseas Filipinos and fostering financial inclusion for Filipinos abroad.
