June 26, 2024 - Angelo Kaliste, a young recycling advocate from Libhu Elementary School, will represent Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) at the upcoming National Festival of Talents (NFOT) in Naga City, Cebu.
Kaliste, who has been passionate about recycling since he was just three years old, won the Regional Festival of Talents (RFOT) - Recycling Waste Material competition. He credits his Grade 5 teacher for teaching him the importance of the 5 R's (Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recover, and Recycle).
"If we don't have money to buy toys and other things, we can make them ourselves using recycled waste materials," Kaliste said.
Kaliste's advocacy for recycling and sustainability has earned him the admiration of his community. He is now preparing to compete at the NFOT with the guidance of his teacher, Lucrecia Tagra.
Kaliste's story is an inspiration to all of us to do our part to protect the environment. He is a shining example of what can be achieved when we are passionate about making a difference.
