PCO Launches Creator COMMUNITY Program to Aid Government Social Media Content Creation

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) unveiled a new program on Wednesday to support government agencies in crafting content for social media.

The initiative, called the Creator COMMUNITY Program, was announced during a workshop titled "Unicomm Techtalk: Digital Storytelling with Youtube" held at Google Headquarters in Taguig City.

Undersecretary of Communications Gerald Baria stated the agency's commitment to providing free assistance, including materials and equipment for shooting and editing, to all interested government departments. He explained that showcasing the government's work to the public was a core function of the PCO.

The workshop served as a comprehensive training program designed to equip government agencies and personnel with the skills necessary to manage their social media accounts effectively. The focus was particularly on content development and maximizing YouTube's potential.

Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of how to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate impactful content across various areas. Google Philippines experts also provided valuable insights on optimizing YouTube as a social media platform.

Jackie Wang, Google PH and TH Country Director, said that YouTube was more than just entertainment. She stated it had facilitated P595 billion in economic activity and was the Philippines' leading television channel.

Vincent Chang, Strategic Partner Manager for the Philippines, conducted a workshop on YouTube best practices, community guidelines, and the creation of effective content. He discussed the YouTube Framework and provided tips for crafting compelling thumbnails.

Chang emphasized the importance of audience connection and framework consistency. He added that data analysis was crucial to understanding what resonates with viewers.
