What is the NCAE?
The NCAE is a standardized test designed to assess a student's aptitude for different academic tracks in Senior High School (SHS). These tracks include:
- Academic Track (Humanities and Social Sciences [HUMSS], Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics [STEM], and Accountancy Business and Management [ABM])
- Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL)
- Sports
- Arts and Design
Who will take the NCAE?
All Grade 10 learners, both in public and private schools with government permit or recognition, will be required to take the NCAE.
When and How will the NCAE be conducted?
The NCAE will be administered within a five-day testing window, starting two weeks after the opening of classes. The exact dates will be determined by the Schools Division Offices (SDOs) in coordination with the regional offices. The exam will be paper-based and will be administered over two consecutive days within the testing window.
What will the NCAE assess?
The NCAE assessment covers various domains:
- General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA): Reading Comprehension, Mathematical Ability, Verbal Ability, Scientific Ability, and Logical Reasoning Ability
- Aptitude for SHS Tracks: assesses your strengths in specific academic areas
- Occupational Interest Inventory (OII): helps identify your career inclinations and preferences

What if I have a disability?
The DepEd recognizes the need for inclusivity. Learners with disabilities (LWDs) will be given test accommodations following the provisions stated in DepEd Order No. 55, s. 2016.
