In an effort to create a more supportive work environment for public school teachers, the Department of Education (DepEd) recently issued DepEd Order No. 005, s. 2024, titled "Rationalization of Teachers' Workload in Public Schools and Payment of Teaching Overload."
This new policy aims to streamline teachers' day-to-day tasks, establish official working hours, and provide clear guidelines for receiving compensation for taking on additional teaching assignments.
Policy Orientation for Effective Implementation
To ensure successful implementation of DO 005, s. 2024, DepEd's Human Resource and Organizational Development (HROD) Strand, through the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development-School Effectiveness Division (BHROD-SED), is conducting a policy orientation for field offices.
The week-long program will take place from June 17th to June 21st, 2024, at the Diamond Hotel in Cebu City. Participants will delve into the key features of the policy, including:
- The breakdown of teachers' duties and responsibilities
- Specific guidelines for field offices
- Clarification of common concerns
- Opportunities for feedback
Important Participation Details
- Accommodation: Board and lodging for participants will be covered under Activity Code AC-24-BHROD-SED-GASS-024 and charged to ATC No.: 2024-CO-00486. A schedule for meals and lodging is provided in the attached document (Annex A).
