This marks a significant improvement for UP, climbing from 404th in 2024 to its current position at 336th globally.
The news comes after a period of challenge for the university during the COVID-19 pandemic. UP's ranking had previously dipped from 356th in 2020 to 412th in 2023, its lowest placement since 2012.
This year's ranking indicates a positive trend for UP. The university's highest score came in the Sustainability category, where it achieved a commendable 67.7 out of 100. This reflects UP's strong commitment to environmentally friendly practices and its positive impact on society and governance.
Additionally, UP received impressive scores in Employment Outcomes (65.6) and Employer Reputation (65.3), highlighting the high employability of its graduates and the strong regard employers hold for UP alumni. The university's international research network also earned a noteworthy rating of 60.9.
While UP continues to excel in these areas, there's still room for growth in its academic reputation score, which currently stands at 36.3.
Other Philippine universities included in the QS World University Rankings 2025 are Ateneo de Manila University (516th), De La Salle University (641-650 range), University of Santo Tomas (851-900 range), and University of San Carlos (1401+ range).
UP's improved ranking underscores its unwavering commitment to its mission enshrined in Republic Act 9500: to be a leader in education, research, and public service.
