Bureau of Immigration apprehends Chinese national with fake visa at NAIA

July 09, 2024 - A Chinese man was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday, July 9th, 2024, for presenting a fake Philippine tourist visa upon arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.

The man, identified as Su Wenpeng, arrived on a Cebu Pacific flight from Hanoi, Vietnam. During immigration inspection, officers flagged inconsistencies in his 9(a) tourist visa. Further examination by the BI's forensic documents laboratory confirmed the visa to be counterfeit.

Su Wenpeng claimed to be traveling solo for a vacation in Bohol. However, immigration authorities deemed him inadmissible due to the fake visa and the possibility of being a public charge. He was subsequently excluded from entering the Philippines.

As a consequence, Su Wenpeng's name will be added to the BI blacklist, effectively barring him from re-entering the country in the future.

This incident highlights the importance of vigilance by immigration officers in detecting fraudulent travel documents. The BI continues to uphold Philippine immigration laws to ensure the security and integrity of the country's borders.
