CALABARZON Swimmer Breaks Own Palarong Pambansa Record

July 11, 2024 - In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Albert Jose Amaro II from San Beda University shattered his own Palarong Pambansa record in the Swimming-50M Butterfly event. The young athlete clocked an impressive 25.25 seconds, surpassing his previous record of 26.14 seconds set in 2023, as the Swimming Competition kicked off at the Cebu City Sports Center.

"Happy po ako sa sarili ko dahil alam ko pong pinaghirapan ko po kung ano ang na-achieve ko ngayon," Amaro expressed gratefully, reflecting on his achievement. "Ang inspiration ko po to achieve greater goals is s'yempre si God, family ko, friends, and my team."

Amaro, who recently clinched a Bronze Medal in the ASEAN School Games held in Da Nang, Vietnam, in the same event, has been immersed in the sport of swimming since the tender age of four. What started as a playful pursuit has now evolved into a serious aspiration to represent the Philippines on the international stage.
