July 17, 2024 - Fatima Mae Tabanao, a Cebu City tutor and beneficiary of the DSWD Tara, Basa Tutoring Program, recently shared her positive experience with the program. The program provided cash-for-work opportunities for tutors who helped struggling or non-reading grade school learners over the past 10 days.
Tabanao, a graduating student herself, highlighted how the earnings from the program arrived at a perfect time. "This first payout of our cash-for-work will really help me financially as classes are about to start," she said. The upcoming semester will bring additional expenses, particularly for her internship uniform and research needs.
Expressing her gratitude for the DSWD initiative, Tabanao said, "DSWD, thank you so much for providing this initiative. I hope there will be more soon for students."
The Tara, Basa Tutoring Program exemplifies the DSWD's commitment to both supporting the educational needs of young learners and providing students with opportunities to earn income. Programs like this can be a valuable resource for students like Tabanao, especially as they navigate the financial demands of higher education and professional development.
