July 03, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd) has successfully retained its ISO Certification for Quality Management Systems (QMS) following a rigorous Second Surveillance Audit on its National QMS Pilot Offices. Led by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, DepEd demonstrated its commitment to maintaining high standards in educational governance and administration.
Conducted on June 25–26, the audit by TÜV NORD, a renowned global certification body, aimed to assess the effectiveness of DepEd’s QMS implementation across its designated pilot offices. Key areas scrutinized included continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to stakeholder expectations.
The audit findings, presented during the closing meeting, highlighted no nonconformities (NC) for DepEd’s National QMS Pilot Offices, which encompass the Central Office, Regional Office IV-A CALABARZON, Schools Division Office of Biñan City, Biñan Elementary School, and Biñan Integrated National High School.
Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Michael Wesley T. Poa, alongside Quality Management Representative Undersecretary Wilfredo E. Cabral, spearheaded the Executive Committee’s oversight of the audit process. Top management representatives included Undersecretaries Revsee Escobedo, Omar Romero, Gerard Chan, and Assistant Secretaries Alma Torio, Janir Datukan, and Dexter Galban, affirming DepEd’s collective commitment to quality assurance.
Leading their respective offices during the audit were Regional Director Atty. Alberto Escobarte for RO IV-A (CALABARZON), Division Superintendent Manuela Tolentino for SDO Biñan, and School Heads Ms. Pilar De Castro and Mr. Oliver Caliwag for Biñan Elementary School and Biñan Integrated National High School, respectively.
