July 09, 2024 - With only three weeks left before the deadline, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is urging all photography enthusiasts to submit their entries for the 2024 PAGCOR Photography Contest. The contest carries the theme "Harvest Time," and aims to capture the spirit of Filipino strength, patience, and hard work during harvest season.
Amateur and professional photographers have until July 31, 10:00 PM to submit their entries. The photos should depict the dedication of farmers, fishers, and other workers who contribute to the country's food security through their harvest.
"We encourage everyone who hasn't submitted their entries yet to upload them on the PAGCOR website as the deadline approaches," said PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco.
This year, PAGCOR has allocated a total prize pool of Php 2.23 million to recognize outstanding Filipino photographers and promote the country's rich traditions.
The contest features three categories:
- Conventional Category: For photos taken using any type of digital camera.
- Mobile Category: For entries captured using mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
- Drone Category: A new addition this year, for aerial photos taken with drone-mounted cameras.
"Eight winners from the Conventional Category will each receive Php 100,000.00, while 16 winners from the Mobile and Drone categories will take home Php 50,000.00 each," announced Mr. Tengco.
"We're also awarding Php 35,000.00 to each of the eight consolation prize winners in the Conventional Category and Php 20,000.00 to each of the 16 finalists in the Drone and Mobile categories," he added.
To encourage wider participation, PAGCOR has lowered the age eligibility from 18 to 16 years old.
