July 11, 2024 - Jyane Kirt Cantor of Central Luzon showcased his exceptional leaping skills as he shattered a 22-year Palarong Pambansa record in long jump.
Cantor soared to a distance of 6.14 meters in the elementary boys division, surpassing the previous mark of 6.04 meters set by Jeremie Tamles of Davao Region in 2002 in Naga.
"I really didn't expect this," said Cantor, a "converted athlete" from Triple Jump to Long Jump this year. He achieved the new record on his second attempt in the long jump event today.
Cantor is an incoming Grade 6 student at Caanawan Elementary School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. His victory highlights his talent and determination, inspiring young athletes nationwide.
