Over 1,000 New Corrections Officers to Take Oath on Monday

July 12, 2024 - In an upcoming ceremony on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 3:00 pm, over 1,000 newly recruited Corrections Officer 1 (CO1) personnel will be officially sworn in at various Operating Prisons and Penal Farms of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

These 1,085 new recruits will be joining the ranks of the nation's custodial personnel after undergoing a rigorous selection and screening process conducted by the BuCor Recruitment, Selection, and Placement Section. The selection process focused on identifying individuals with qualities like integrity, innovativeness, vigilance, and a strong adherence to ethical principles.

The new officers will be distributed across different facilities nationwide. Among them, 200 will be assigned to Davao Prison and Penal Farm, another 200 to Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 100 to San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, 140 to Leyte Regional Prison, and 96 to Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm. The largest group of 349 will be sworn in at the Sunken Garden Parade Ground of New Bilibid Prison – National Headquarters (NBP-NHQ) in Muntinlupa City.

In a noteworthy addition, one Non-Uniformed Personnel will also participate in the oath-taking ceremony as a Supervising Admin Officer.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P Catapang Jr., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, will preside over the ceremony, officially welcoming the new officers and affirming their commitment to upholding the highest standards of public service.

This ceremony marks a significant milestone for both the new recruits and the Bureau of Corrections as it bolsters its workforce to address the challenges of corrections and rehabilitation in the country.
