PH: The Stats Capital of the World (Month-Long!)

Did you know that the Philippines stands out from the crowd when it comes to celebrating statistics? That's right! Our beautiful archipelago is the only country in the world with a month-long dedication to data! 🇵🇭

While many nations observe a single "Statistics Day" (98 out of 103!), and a select few have a "Statistics Week" (4 countries), the Philippines takes things a step further with a whole month! This special celebration is called National Statistics Month (NSM), observed every October [Philippine Statistics Authority, psa.gov.ph].

#NSMroadto35

This year marks the 35th anniversary of NSM, making it a long-standing tradition. But why dedicate a whole month to statistics?

The goals of NSM are twofold:

  1. Promote awareness and appreciation: NSM aims to educate Filipinos about the importance of statistics in everyday life. From informing government policies to guiding business decisions, data plays a crucial role in shaping our nation's progress.
  2. Encourage public participation: NSM fosters cooperation between the public and the Philippine Statistical System (PSS). By actively participating in data collection and dissemination, Filipinos can contribute to a more accurate and valuable statistical landscape.

So, this October, keep an eye out for NSM activities! There are usually contests, seminars, and campaigns organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and other government agencies.

Let's celebrate the power of statistics in building a better Philippines! 🇵🇭
