July 01, 2024 - President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. marked the 77th founding anniversary of the Philippine Air Force in Pampanga, reaffirming the administration’s unwavering commitment to the AFP’s capability development. In his address, President Marcos highlighted ongoing efforts, including acquiring additional air assets, enhancing cyber warfare communication systems, and pursuing base development programs. The acquisition of advanced radar systems has bolstered operational readiness and extended the Air Force’s reach.
President Marcos expressed joy at joining the “faithful guardians” of the Philippine aerial domain, recognizing the PAF’s enduring spirit of freedom. He commended the valiant officers and personnel, led by Lt Gen. Stephen ParreƱo, and congratulated those awarded for outstanding performance.
The PAF’s mission includes organizing, training, and equipping forces for prompt and sustained air operations in defense of the Philippines. President Marcos assured the Air Force of the administration’s support in prioritizing their welfare and recognized their dedication to the nation.
Significant steps have been taken to enhance PAF capability, including increased maritime domain awareness within the Philippine Air Force Defense Identification Zone. Internal security operations have led to the surrender and neutralization of local insurgency group members. Additionally, international defense and security engagements have been sustained through talks with foreign military counterparts and participation in bilateral and multilateral military exercises.
President Marcos emphasized the government’s resolve to contribute to global peace and security. The selfless men and women of the Air Force play a crucial role, regularly conducting humanitarian and disaster response operations.
