Schools Gear Up for School Year 2024-2025 with Brigada Eskwela

July 09, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd), in accordance with DepEd Memorandum No. 033, s. 2024, announced the conduct of Brigada Eskwela from July 22nd to 27th, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming school year opening on July 29th. This nationwide program aims to ensure public schools are ready to welcome students back for SY 2024-2025.

Brigada Eskwela, which translates to "School Brigade," is a call to action for all stakeholders in education. Local communities, parents, alumni, businesses, NGOs, and even students and teachers themselves are encouraged to volunteer their time and skills. During this week-long event, participants will work together on cleaning, minor repairs, and maintenance projects within school campuses.

This year's Brigada Eskwela carries the theme "Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan" (Working Together for a Strong School). It emphasizes the importance of community collaboration in creating a safe and conducive learning environment for students.

The nationwide Brigada Eskwela kick-off program will be held on July 17th at Carmen National High School in Cebu. The event will be streamed live on the DepEd Philippines Facebook page to encourage participation across the country. Regional offices and schools divisions are also empowered to organize their own advocacy activities to promote Brigada Eskwela in their areas.

Schools and stakeholders will be equipped with information and guidelines for a successful Brigada Eskwela. School heads are encouraged to attend DepEd-organized orientations to ensure proper implementation.
