VP Sara Duterte Offers Prayers for the Success of 2024 Palarong Pambansa

July 09, 2024 - In a solemn and prayerful visit, Vice President and Secretary of the Department of Education, Sara Z. Duterte, sought divine blessings for the 2024 Palarong Pambansa to be held in Cebu City. The historic Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño de Cebu, with its centuries-old walls echoing with faith, provided the backdrop for her heartfelt supplications.

The national sporting event, which brings together young athletes from across the Philippines, is a celebration of talent, discipline, and camaraderie. Vice President Duterte’s prayers extended to all participants: athletes, coaches, teachers, and the dedicated staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

As sunlight filtered through the basilica’s stained glass windows, Vice President Duterte emphasized the importance of unity and resilience. “Mga kababayan,” she said, “patuloy po tayong maging MATATAG tungo sa pagtaguyod ng isang Bansang Makabata at mga Batang Makabansa.” (Fellow citizens, let us remain steadfast in nurturing a nation of responsible and patriotic youth.)

The Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño de Cebu, home to the revered Santo Niño relic, stands as a testament to faith and cultural heritage. Pilgrims and visitors alike find solace within its hallowed walls, where history intertwines with devotion.

In her closing prayer, Vice President Duterte expressed, “Ang lahat ng ginagawa natin ay para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa Pamilyang Pilipino.” (Everything we do is for God, our nation, and the Filipino family.)

As the nation eagerly awaits the Palarong Pambansa, Vice President Duterte’s visit serves as a poignant reminder of the values that bind us together.
