DepEd Reiterates Strict No-Collection Policy in Schools

August 02, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued a stern reminder to all public and private schools about the strict implementation of the No-Collection Policy, prohibiting the collection of fees from students and teachers.

DepEd Memorandum No. 041, s. 2024, reinforces Republic Act No. 4206, which explicitly bans the sale of tickets or collection of contributions from students and teachers for any purpose. The department emphasized that this policy applies throughout the entire school year, including the enrollment period.

Exceptions to the policy are limited to membership fees for the Red Cross, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, and Boy Scouts of the Philippines, as well as voluntary contributions for the support of barrio high schools.

The DepEd warned that violators of the No-Collection Policy face penalties such as fines or imprisonment. The department also urged all personnel to adhere to the principles of professionalism and refrain from unwarranted solicitations.

To ensure compliance, DepEd regional and division offices are tasked with establishing monitoring mechanisms to oversee schools' adherence to the policy.

The department emphasized its commitment to providing quality education accessible to all students without financial burdens.
