Every year, the Synergeia Foundation brings together education leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders at the Washington SyCip National Education Summit, a platform dedicated to strengthening education across the Philippines. In 2025, this significant event will take place from February 5-6 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
What’s on the Agenda?
This year’s summit promises a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities within the education sector, focusing on actionable strategies to enhance learning outcomes and community involvement. Here’s what attendees can expect:
Study on Managing the Special Education Fund
A proposed study aims to address the effective management of the Special Education Fund, ensuring that resources are optimally allocated to meet the needs of students with disabilities and other specific learning requirements.Recognition of Local Government Units (LGUs)
The summit will feature the conferment of the Seal of Good Education Governance to select LGUs. This honor is awarded to local government units that have demonstrated exceptional efforts in boosting school participation, improving student retention, and enhancing reading skills. This recognition serves as an inspiration for other communities to actively support quality education initiatives.Panel on the Governance of School Governing Councils
Education experts and leaders will discuss the governance of School Governing Councils, focusing on the importance of community engagement in making education programs more inclusive. By empowering local councils, the summit aims to promote collaborative efforts to create better educational outcomes across the nation.
Supporting Local Partnerships for a Stronger Education System
The Department of Education (DepEd) stands in solidarity with Synergeia’s commitment to foster partnerships at the local level. DepEd encourages both teaching and non-teaching personnel, invited by Synergeia or their local partners, to attend this summit. DepEd staff can participate without compromising their primary duties, ensuring a balanced approach to professional development.
Funding Participation: A Local Government Effort
Participation in the summit is designed to be accessible for invited DepEd officials and partners. Each participant’s registration fee may be charged to local government funds, including Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) or other approved funds, subject to fund availability and the usual financial auditing protocols.
