Manila, Philippines – April 14, 2025 — In preparation for the observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on April 17-18, 2025, the government has issued Memorandum Circular No. 81, implementing a half-day work schedule for government offices on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
According to the circular, government employees will be allowed to work from home from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, after which government work will be suspended starting 12:00 PM. This aims to give employees ample time to travel to and from their hometowns and observe the Holy Week traditions.
However, essential government agencies, including those responsible for the delivery of basic services, healthcare, and emergency response, will remain fully operational under their usual work arrangements.
The circular also notes that the decision to implement similar arrangements in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers.
The memorandum takes effect immediately.
