Understanding Learner Placement for the 2025 Learning Camp: A Guide for Parents and Educators

As part of the Department of Education's continuous efforts to improve the quality of education, the 2025 Learning Camp introduces a more targeted approach to learner support. Through the use of the End of School Year (EoSY) assessments, students will be strategically grouped into Intervention, Consolidation, or Enhancement Camps. This method ensures that each learner receives the appropriate level of support based on their academic performance.

Learner Placement for the 2025 Learning Camp

Here’s everything you need to know about how your child’s placement will be determined.

What is the 2025 Learning Camp?

The 2025 Learning Camp is an initiative designed to provide differentiated academic support during the summer. Learners will be grouped into three categories:

  • Intervention Camp – for those needing intensive support.

  • Consolidation Camp – for those who are approaching proficiency.

  • Enhancement Camp – for those who are ready for more advanced learning.

Assessment Tools Used for Placement

The placement into these camps will be based on three key assessments:

  1. Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA) – for Grades 1 to 3

  2. Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) – for Grades 4 to 10

  3. Rapid Mathematics Assessment (RMA) – for Grades 1 to 10

These assessments, combined with teacher recommendations, form the basis for learner placement.

EnhancementGrade Level ReadyIndependentProficient, Highly Proficient

Let’s break this down further:

  • Intervention Camp:
Students who score as Emerging or Developing in reading or Not/Low Proficient in math are placed here. These learners require foundational support to catch up with grade-level standards.

  • Consolidation Camp:
Learners scoring as Transitioning or Instructional are considered nearly proficient and benefit from reinforcement of concepts to ensure full mastery.

  • Enhancement Camp:
Those identified as Grade Level Ready, Independent, or Highly Proficient are ready to explore more challenging content and deepen their learning.

Why This Matters

Grouping learners based on real performance data helps ensure no child is left behind. Whether your child needs remediation or enrichment, the Learning Camp offers a focused, responsive approach to meet their academic needs.

How Parents Can Support

  • Understand your child’s assessment results. Ask their teacher how they performed in CRLA, Phil-IRI, and RMA.

  • Engage with teachers. Their recommendations play a vital role in placement.

  • Support learning at home. Whether your child is in intervention or enhancement, your involvement makes a big difference.
